Why a Ladder?
I first thought of this as a roadmap for human development and consciousness. I began calling it a Ladder because we can heal, grow, expand our awareness, and rise.
In Power vs. Force, Dr. David Hawkins described a Map of Consciousness, moving from lower emotional states such as shame, fear, and anger toward courage, love, peace, and expanded spiritual awareness. His work helped inspire the higher-consciousness portion of my Ladder.
My Ladder also includes the developmental foundations that come earlier—security, belonging, unmet childhood needs, emotional development, self-worth, relationships, and healing of the heart.
Healing and spiritual growth can intertwine. As we strengthen what was missing, we may also become more able to move toward expanded consciousness and the higher possibilities of human life.
